Iligan Observes Shariff Kabunsuan Day on December 19
The Office of the City Mayor has issued Memorandum Order No. 246, Series of 2025, declaring December 19, 2025 (Friday) a Special Non-Working Holiday in the City of Iligan in observance of Shariff Kabunsuan Day.
The declaration is pursuant to Batas Pampook Blg. 14, which proclaims December 19 of every year as Shariff Kabunsuan Day and recognizes it as a legal holiday. Shariff Kabunsuan Day commemorates the arrival of Shariff Kabunsuan in Mindanao and honors his significant role in the introduction of Islam, as well as the enduring cultural, historical, and religious heritage of Muslim Filipinos.
While offices will observe the special non-working holiday, departments providing frontline and essential services are directed to maintain sufficient skeletal workforce arrangements to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of critical public services. These include, but are not limited to:
- Iligan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ICDRRMO)
- Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)
- Iligan City Police Office (ICPO)
- Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital (GTLMH)
- Other similarly situated essential units
All concerned offices are advised to ensure compliance with the memorandum for public safety and welfare.
