Iligan Strengthens Innovation with MSU-IIT College of Medicine and AI Industrial Research Park
Through House Bill No. 5289, Congressman Regencia proposes the establishment of the MSU-IIT College of Medicine, a vital step toward enhancing local healthcare education and producing future medical professionals rooted in Mindanao. Complementing this is House Bill No. 5290, which seeks to create the Artificial Intelligence Industrial Research Park (AIIRP) within MSU-IIT — a pioneering initiative that aims to drive technological advancement, industrial innovation, and AI-based solutions across the region.
These initiatives are designed to:
- Empower Iligan’s educational growth by expanding MSU-IIT’s academic and research capabilities.
- Promote health innovation through locally trained medical professionals from the new College of Medicine.

In addition, Congressman Regencia recently spearheaded resolutions honoring MSU-IIT educators who have brought prestige to Iligan and the nation, especially following the university’s recognition in the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings as one of the Top 3 universities in the Philippines and the only institution outside Luzon to earn this distinction.
